Car Rentals Fort Lauderdale and the Aquatic Complex
A trip to Fort Lauderdale in your car rental is just not complete without taking a swim whether it be the ocean or pool. But unforeseen circumstances can come up preventing you from hitting the beach or the outdoor pool. What is the vacationer to do? Head to the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex! The Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex is home to Fort Lauderdale Aquatics, Jack Nelson Swim School, the Fort Lauderdale Dive Team, and the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
Built in 1965, the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex, formerly named the Hall of Fame Aquatic Complex is owned and operated by the City of Fort Lauderdale. Considered a leader and pioneer among the world's top aquatic centers, the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex has witnessed ten world records while serving as host to hundreds of national and international meets.
Aquatic Complex History
Fort Lauderdale's competitive swimming heritage dates back to the grand opening of the Casino Pool on January 29, 1928. As the first pool of Olympic size (50m x 20m) in Florida, it remained at the forefront of the swimming scene for nearly half a century and consequently witnessed a great deal of American swimming history. The Casino Pool (1928-1966) was home to the nation's top swimmers for decades, including Katherine Rawls, Fort Lauderdale's first celebrity of sport and international athletic ambassador. Pool Etiquette & Awareness
While swimming in any public area, you are going to be in close proximity to others. It is wise, and considerate to keep a few things in mind while sharing pool space with others. Here are just some things to keep in mind if you are going to be in a public pool during your Fort Lauderdale car rental vacation:
- Be aware of ‘wide’ strokes
- Carefully check for the position and speed of other swimmers
- Don’t ‘water-run’ or ‘aqua-jog’ in lap lanes
- Respect the ‘toys’ or accessories of other swimmers
- Allow swimmers doing faster strokes to go ahead
- Slower swimmers should wait to push off the wall until faster swimmers have passed
- Faster swimmers should give slower swimmers as much “running room” as possible before pushing off,
